The Coaster Ten:
-
A minor and self-serve water station (no cups to avoid waste): 5KM
You are allowed to have CREW at the aid stations, we strongly suggest having all-wheel drive capabilities. Outside assistance is not allowed outside of Aid Stations. Unless that assistance includes high-fives and words of encouragement.
Getting to the CMBTA Party Aid Station. These are your coordinates: 49.5190 -123.8402 and here's a picture on how to get there. Trail Forks bumps the pin when you share it, here's a GAIA GPS pin location. Again we strongly suggest your vehicle has all-wheel drive capabilities.
Getting to the 17KM Minor Aid Station (Marathon only). Google maps does a good job of directing people to this aid station, you can follow this pin.
What will we have at the CMBTA Party Aid Station:
Precision Fuel and Hydration products and drink mix. There will also be a selection of savoury snacks and candies, as well as water.
MANDATORY GEAR // CUPLESS EVENT
This year a foldable cup, or flask, or bladder is MANDATORY for the 42km, 21km and 10km. Our tagline has very quickly become, "by the trails, for the trails". From day one it has been of greatest priority that we leave the trails better than we found them, this includes reducing waste as best we all can! For that reason we ask that you bring your own foldable cups or refill your flasks and bladders at aid stations.
Here's an example of something you could look at getting - https://hydrapak.com/products/speed-cup-200-ml?variant=31224137875546 or head straight to Sunny Running Co. in Gibsons to see what they have.
YOU MUST HAVE THE ROUTE WITH YOU
We do our utmost to make sure the trails are well marked and that intersections are clear. However, you are sharing the trails with trail users. It is possible that between the race start and finish someone has tampered with the route markers. You must have the route on you. Head to your race pages to get your hands on the GPX and/or Strava route. Use your phone, gps watch or a map and compass if need be.
ACTIVE TRAILS & ROADS
Please note, you are sharing the trails with trail users (including wildlife), and you are sharing the FSRs with cars. Be respectful and considerate of those you share the trails with.
WE LOVE DOGS, NOT EVERYONE DOES
If you've browsed through our website or instagram, you know we love dogs! But to make sure everyone has an enjoyable experience, please keep your dogs on a lead at the start/finish area. If your dog is sensitive to loud noises, children, crowds and other dogs, perhaps it's best they sit this one out, or support runners in the forest!
While we would love a dog podium, dog's will not be allowed to run in the race. This is to ensure the safety of all runners.
CUB RUN
The Cub run will be taking place from 13:00. Please note, there will be no prize categories or podiums due to the large range of ages that we already have signed up, this is purely for fun and community! Kids can "register" and get their bib on the day!
Cut off times
-
The Coaster Marathon - 8 hours, 3PM. *1.30PM at CMBTA Aid Station (2).
-
The Coaster Half - 5 hours, 2:30PM.
By THE TRAILS, FOR THE TRAILS
Without trails, there would be no trail running... it's that simple! Proceeds raised by the event will go straight to Coast Mountain Bike Trail Association (CMBTA). CMBTA keeps our trails on the Sunshine Coast in tip top shape - building, maintaining, protecting and advocating for the trails!
BC FERRIES
If you're coming from anywhere other than the lower Sunshine Coast, you'll probably be relying on BC Ferries - unless a marathon sup or swim is your kind of warmup! Please make yourself familiar with the schedule and plan accordingly. Marathon runners will have to be on the Sunshine Coast on Friday as the first ferry leaves too late to make the start. Half marathon runners are able to catch the first ferry across to make the start, if you don't have a reservation, we suggest being at the ferry terminal 2-3 hours before the sailing. However we do strongly recommend arriving on the Coast on Friday!
Sailing route: Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay) to Sunshine Coast (Langdale).
TAPWORKS AFTER PARTY
SOLD OUT
You received an email about The Coaster Afterparty on the 19th of May. This is so graciously hosted by Tapworks and it is not something we would have capacity for without them. Tapworks has a legal capacity which we need to abide by. The event has sold out. If you have bought tickets and cannot make it, please do let us know so that we can release more tickets. At an attempt to prevent no shows this year, we are charging $5 per ticket, the entirety of this will go to Sunshine Coast Search & Rescue.
Time: 17:30
Location: Tapworks
Discount: 10% off food and drinks.
DJ Buzy B will be keeping the post race energy going from 17:30 - 21:00.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
Refunds, deferrals, pregnancy policy and terms and conditions you agree to by entering. Follow the link below for more info.
MUSIC
We love running to our jams, we ask that you use one earbud or bone conducting headphones so that you are able to remain aware of your surroundings. The trails and FSRs are shared by many users, this rule is to ensure everyone's safety.
PORTO TOILETS
We have them! Please use them! We've made a point of assuring we have toilets at start/finish, CMBTA Party Aid Station, and Jeanelle's absolute favourite new outhouse at Big Tree Rec Site parking. Please avoid pooping in the forest.
PARKING
There is parking all along Ripple Way and we will have volunteers directing you, please watch for the volunteers and people on the road. Once parking by the field fills, you will have to park in the Kinnickinick Elementary Parking which is ~1km from the start line. We highly encourage you to car pool if possible and allow adequate time to park and get to the race start before your allotted race time.
